Updating Etrust Anti Virus Software: Hints

It is recommended that virus software is updated regularly. By following the steps below, you will set the process to occur automatically

Step 1:

Right click the mouse button, on top of the blue box with yellow pulse (bouncing ball) system tray at the bottom of the right corner of the screen.

Select Launch eTrust Antivirus

Step 3:

From the menu select Scanner, and then click on Signature Update Options

In the download date and time screen, you can put forward the date and time. Also ensure Enable Schedule Download is ticked.

NOTE: Under Repeat Every - Days should be set to 0 and Hours should be left on 2.

Once this is complete, press the "Incoming" tab.

Ensure the method is FTP and the source is to ftpav.ca.com and then click on the "Outgoing" tab

Untick the option that reads This machine will provide signature updates to other computers on the network. Then press the Download Now button to download the latest signature files for E-trust Antivirus.

Step 4:
To check for the last update, simply, right click  realtime icon  the blue box again and select Version Information. The box below should appear.

Under engine information is where the last date the virus protection has been updated

Step 5:

If the previous steps didnt work properly, click on this link E-trust Website Update
This link will take you to the E-trust website.

Under the Platform Windows NT/2000/XP download either the following: (depending how out of date your virus signatures are)

Full: fv_nt86.exe (dd mmm yyyy, Approx: 9 MB) fv_nt86.exe

Incremental: iv_nt86.exe (dd mmm yyyy, Approx: 700 Kb) iv_nt86.exe
